Where does the profit from subscriptions come from? Who pays, how much, and for what?

The webmaster receives profit from push notifications sent to the subscription database. If the visitor meets the targeting requirements of the advertiser (country, device type, connection type, browser, etc.), then he is sent a push notification, by clicking on which money is debited from the advertiser and transferred to the webmaster.

If your subscriber meets the targeting requirements and meets all the necessary criteria, he is admitted to the RTB auction. RTB  (Real Time Bidding) is an advertising technology that allows you to organize an auction between sellers and buyers of advertising in real time. The object of trading in an online auction is the right to display an ad to a specific user.

A click brings in on average $0.01 – $0.03, an impression $0.0001 – $0.0008. More accurate figures and prices can be found on the Rates and Prices page .

What is revshara?

Revenue Share is a method of mutual settlement between an affiliate program and a webmaster, in which the amount of income from the affiliate program to the webmaster is paid.

Since monetization of your subscriber base occurs in different ways and profits are accrued from different formats (impressions\clicks\target action), the webmaster is paid the total amount of funds received from the advertiser.

Why do the lessons cover GEO – only Russia and the CIS? What about Tier-1 countries?

That’s a good question. First of all, we considered working with a Russian-speaking Internet group only because with it it will be easier and more convenient for you to master these materials, draw promos and set up advertising campaigns.

What is the optimal subscription price?

The optimal subscription price depends on many factors, the key of which are the type of subscription (mobile\desktop) and the country of subscription.

Subscriptions from mobile devices are more expensive than subscriptions from desktop PCs. This is because advertisers pay more for clicks from mobile devices. If you collect a base of subscriptions from mobile devices and stationary devices in different campaigns, after a while you will notice the difference. On average, a subscription from a mobile device costs a third more.

If you divide the audience among mobile subscriptions into 3G\Wi-Fi subscribers, then you will also notice the difference that operator traffic brings more profit, since among mobile traffic operator traffic costs more.

You can get your bearings by the RU segment; on average, a desktop subscription brings in 2.0 – 2.5 rubles in profit. A mobile subscription brings in 2.5 – 4.0 rubles in profit, an operator mobile subscription brings in an average of 3.0 – 4.0 rubles.

How long does a push subscription last on average?

Usually, when working with subscriptions, subscriptions are not counted on the first day of traffic drain. This is due to the fact that on the first day, those who have subscribed actively unsubscribe from the mailing lists. On the third day, the dynamics usually settle down and people stop actively unsubscribing – what remains is a stable base that will generate profit for months.

Our subscription database has been profitable for the second year now, but we need to update the database and add new audiences – this has a positive effect on profitability, as well as on the conversions of advertisers who buy traffic from your mailings. Thus, if the database hangs for a year, over time it will not be profitable for advertisers to pay for your mailings, focus on this moment.

It feels like the database runs out of steam and ceases to be liquid for the advertiser in an average of 8-14 months, depending on the initial quality of the database and the audience.

What are ‘Success’ and ‘Fail’ URLs? What does Difficulty mean?

Complexity is the number of redirects (repeated redirects) after refusing or confirming a subscription.

If, when the subscription request dialog box appears, the user unsubscribes, the page will reload and the subscription request will appear again. Thus, if the complexity is equal to 5, if the visitor unsubscribes, he will be asked to subscribe again, five times.

If the user has still subscribed to notifications, but the number of requests specified in the flow complexity settings has not yet ended, then the visitor can subscribe again. If he unsubscribes from mailings, a spare subscription will remain in reserve, which will begin sending notifications, replacing the one from which the visitor unsubscribed.

Fail and Success URL is a trafficback link that ClickPay.money will send the user to after unsubscribing or successful confirmation. This way, you can further monetize your traffic rather than donate it to the affiliate network.

What is the optimal budget to understand something?

The minimum budget required by your chosen advertising network will be sufficient. For example, in mpay69 it is $10. With this money, you will be able to make a sufficient number of conversions to analyze individual segments and targeting, see the dynamics of changes in the subscription price and possible prospects.

It is worth noting that the initial subscription price can start from 5 to 20 rubles, but already with the first optimization you can reduce the price by 2-3 times and see positive dynamics. It’s enough to turn off the categories, operators or sites that eat up the most budget and at the same time give the least conversions.

How many subscribers can you already analyze and disable bad sites?

The more detailed and deeper the assessed segment, targeting or criterion, the less data is needed for analytics and any conclusions. If you are evaluating a wide segment, you should get at least 100 subscriptions. 

As an example, we evaluate the segment\targeting: RU, Wi-Fi, Android, Chrome mobile. The segment is quite wide, but already from the first 100 subscriptions you can consistently calculate the cost of a subscription. Already within this segment, we can track indicators for specific devices, where the assessment can be given in more detail, reducing the criteria to 10 subscriptions per segment\targeting.

Let’s assume that we spent 1000 rubles on the first 100 subscriptions, receiving a subscription cost of 10 rubles. Inside the segment/targeting, we analyze by device and see a list of devices:

  1. HTC Desire 526G PLUS dual sim – 10 subscriptions – cost 25 rubles
  2. HTC EVO Design 4G – 15 subscriptions – cost 20 rubles
  3. Galaxy A10 a10 SM-A105N – 0 subscriptions – cost 100 rubles
  4. Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830D GT-S5830D – 50 subscriptions – cost 750 rubles
  5. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 p4notewifi GT-N8013 – 25 subscriptions – cost 105 rubles

Even after a more detailed examination, we can conclude that it is worth disabling devices 3, 4 and 5.

The third device does not provide conversions. When working with a tracker, the easiest way to identify such targeting are devices that most likely do not support Google push notification technology. There are targetings that give zeros. Not all versions of Android\browsers\operating systems support the required technologies.

The fourth device, although it provides a lot of traffic and conversions, in fact, simply eats up our advertising budget, generating a lot of traffic and expensive subscriptions that are not profitable for us.

The fifth device is the standard situation. Subscriptions are going evenly and the price is practically zero for us, but over a distance and with large volumes they will not be profitable for us. This targeting should also be disabled, but first, collect at least a couple of subscriptions (or better yet, a dozen).

The main criterion for detailed targeting analytics is the subscription price and the price of traffic. If you have spent more than 10 subscriptions (25-40 rubles) on a detailed segment, you can disable it, since the picture will probably not improve.

Why is the number of clicks different in the advertising account and the affiliate program?

There are no losses between the advertising account and the ClickPay.money affiliate program . The affiliate program only counts unique/non-unique clicks – from real devices that support technologies for implementing Push subscriptions. Traffic from unknown or unreliable devices or bots is not included in the statistics.

The amount of traffic after subscription (Success, Fail URL) may differ from the number of clicks in your advertising account. This is due to the fact that some visitors will close the site tab when requesting a subscription.

Why is the minimum price in Mpay69 different from the price in the lesson?

The minimum price of 0.05 is achieved by dividing advertising campaigns by country and operator. Since 3G traffic is more expensive, the minimum price rises to 0.07. In different countries, the minimum price is also different. If you select several countries, the minimum bid will be the one that satisfies all advertising campaigns.

This way you will get the maximum possible minimum price so that all targeting fits into these settings. This nuance applies not only to Mpay69; this rule also works in other advertising networks.

How to draw a gif pre-roll yourself?

What is ‘show captcha’ or ‘show new subscription request’

As one of the settings, you can choose how to implement the subscription complexity parameter (calling a repeated subscription request from a new domain). If the user unsubscribes, some action must be taken to resend the request. In this way, the user makes several subscriptions at the same time, or does not gain access to the resource until he agrees with the subscription.

I have very little free time, but a great desire to learn how to work with push notifications. Can I complete the training at a slower pace? Will lessons be available after completion?

Yes, of course you can. Perhaps it will even be better. When conducting training, we always face one problem – the immediate increase in competition.

Imagine a situation where hundreds of people suddenly register with an advertising network, create a total of about a thousand advertising campaigns for moderators, and begin to compete with each other.
